BY DAMON WILKINSON EXCHANGE students from one of Rochdale's twin towns spent a day in the life of a firefighter at Littleborough station. Pupils from Bielefeld, in Germany; tried their hand at squirting hoses and climbing ladders, were given an insight into the British fire service and took a tour of the Calderbrook Road station. Community fire safety officer Mick Cryer said: "We showed the students how the British fire service works and let them loose on the hoses. "They thoroughly enjoyed themselves and took a few mementoes of their time in Littleborough back to Germany." Rochdale Observer, 15 March, 2008 |
